2012 Mid America Cross Country Series Round 4 Bike Race Report
WMR KTM’s Steven Squire Wins , Shane Klimek & Zach Nash Round out AA Bike Podium

The 2012 Blingstar AMA Mid America Cross Country Racing Series made this fourth stop of the ten round series at Lawrence Country Recreational Park. Steven Squire would make his way through the dust and the heat to take win. Shane Klimek & Zach Nash Round out AA Bike Class Podium.

This particular round marked a special occasion for AMA MAXC Racing Series as all the proceeds from the race were donated to the Riley Children’s Hospital.  Last year MAXC with the help of their co-sponsors raised over $20,000 to help children in need.

The Riley Miracle Race was hosted at the Lawrence Country Recreational Park, which has over 400 acres of OHV riding trails in southern Indiana.  The track featured many open fields sections, woods, a few hill climbs, and a downhill rock jump. The weather was in the low 90’s all weekend making most of the track very dusty.

Steven Squire got off to a decent start behind third place finisher Zach Nash. Squire would be able to make his way to the front of the pack on the second lap and rode constant until the checkered flag waved. It would be Squire’s first AA class win of the 2012 season aboard his Spike’s KTM.

“I got off to a second place start and then right after the finish line at the end of the first lap I was able to make the pass on Zach (Nash). After that I ran my own race from there. I tried to be consistent and not make mistakes. When I saw the two lap board, I just followed in and sprinted the last to laps for the win.” Said Maxxis’ Steven Squire

After grabbing the holeshot in the AA Class, Zach Nash put down a good charge the first lap but was not able to hold onto the lead as Steven Squire was able to make the pass to take over the lead on the second lap.

“I got the holeshot and I went into the woods first.  I lead the whole first lap and then in a field section Steven (Squire) came around me – he was going faster than I was – and I followed in behind him for a while. I wasn’t finding real good rhythm today. I had to pit and Shane (Klimek) got around me and I was doing everything I could do to keep up but I was able to hold on and get third at the end. “ Explained Zach Nash.

#123 Austin Lee from Bedford, IN took the win of the Open A class. Lee is on fire this year taking his third win at 2012 AMA MAXC Round 4. Rounding out the Open A class was #696 Luke Chilman and #57 Alex Witkowski.
