AMA Blingstar MAXC Round 10 Season Finale – Bike Race Report
Spider Graphix’ Jeff Cregg Wins, Derick Allen & Zach Love Round Out AA Class
The Blingstar MAXC Racing Series headed down to beautiful Nashville, Indiana for the MAXC season finale. Donned the “Big Nasty” the MAXC crew laid out arguably one of the best and most challenging tracks at the former Ski World ski resort.
The “Big Nasty” MAXC Round 10 took advantage of the many elevation changes and navigated riders over many of the abandoned ski slopes making the racing exciting racers and spectators alike. The 7-mile track consisted of many mowed hillsides, open fields, tight woods, off cambers, and several hill climbs.
Taking the win in the AA Pro Bike class was Maxxis Tires’ Jeff Cregg. “It was pretty brutal out there. The first lap was pretty sketchy. We were just kind of taking it easy, but things got pretty good there at the end.” Said Moose Racing’s Jeff Cregg
Open A Class racer Austin Lee from Bedford, IN took an impressive first Overall in the Adult Bike Podium. Lee has won seven out of eight races he has entered in the AMA MAXC Open A Class. Austin Lee would placed second in the AMA MAXC Open A Class points championship. Austin Lee plans on moving up to the MAXC AA Pro Class in the 2013 racing season.
“Luke (Chilman) got me on the start and I tried to find a good line and I got around Luke. We started catching the Pros in the front row real fast. I got around them and started following Cregg. Finally Cregg made a mistake and missed a line and I got him on it. I just put my head down and charged before we really got heavy into lapper.” said Leatt’s Austin Lee
Derick Allen rounded out the Adult Bike Class podium third overall and second in the AA class.
“I got off to a decent start and pulled the lead, but I lost the front end on a hill. It felt like 3 hours before I could get it going again. I had to play catch up the whole race. I ended better than what I thought I would have. It was a great venue and a great course I had a blast” said Derick Allen
